Medical Services Pacific has been hard at work again, this time putting together a Health Fair for the people of Tamavua-i-Wai Settlement to be held this Saturday at the Methodist Church Hall in Tamavua-i-Wai.
Running from 9 am until 3 pm, the Health Fair will bring together a diverse range of healthcare services, making it easy for the community to access multiple services and to encourage them to make healthy choices.
Colgate’s Dr Rabbit will also be there to entertain the kids and teach them the ins and outs of oral hygiene, and Rotaract will once again be providing free face painting for the kids!
Putting together an event like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of our partners: “We are grateful to our regular health fair partners such as the dental and pharmaceutical students from at FNU College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the staff of the Ministry of Health. The row of mobile dental chairs has always been a huge draw card for many reasons. We are also thankful for support from our corporate partner in health, Colgate Palmolive,” says Medical Services Pacific’s Executive Director, Ms Jennifer Poole.
“Many people work together to put on a multi-stakeholder event; and to ensure everyone’s safety on the day, we work closely with the Community Police. We are always pleased with the support we get from the community leaders in regards to providing the venue and welcoming the teams.
“We also extend our thanks to the support of our donor the Australian Government, specifically the Australian High Commission in Suva, for making this Health Fair program possible, to Rotary Club of Suva East for their generous donation, and to the leadership of Tamavua-i-Wai and the Methodist Church for their support and thank them for their participation in delivering health services to their community, and to the women and youth in particular.”
The Health Fair will be the third health fair delivered under the Healthy Choices Health Fair program, funded by the Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program. Previous Health Fairs in Lami and Wainibokasi have already assisted more than 460 community members. Since opening in August 2010, MSP has assisted more than 30,000 clients.
